Happy New Year

Hi Everyone!

Hope you are doing well, and that this year is very successful in every way!

A bit about my trip... Spain went well, just a bit difficult with the language barrier... but its cool... I am in London now, where I can pretty much understand the most of the people!

The picture is of the Plaza de Cebelius in Madrid. We went exploring Madrid for a few days... and this was one of my favourite plaza's. It is beautiful with all the Lions.

I'll post a picture of London soon... just want to take some!

Cyprus - Mediterranean...ha ha ha!!!!

Hi everyone

Hope your Christmases and New Year's were all great, wherever you were. Mine was absolutey wonderful with Matthew.

In case you were wondering, so much for warm weather in the mediterranean. Maybe in the summertime, but right now it is about 7°C and some days colder. I kinda missed out on the SA summer now, but don't have the added advantage of snow like Dori does!!

Xmas was a quiet dinner at home with Matthew and then we went to the Zimbabwean New Year's Party in Nicosia...how insane is that? At least there were some people who spoke Afrikaans and even though it cost us close to R850, we won a steam cooker (which I am certain cost a whole R50)!!

This place is not very pretty and the people aren't nice. Shopping is a headache, but that might be a good thing... We have a very nice apartment in the city and we do walk a lot. One very big advantage here is that crime is really not a problem. Matt and I go walking late at night and FAR without any hassles. Everything is HORRIBLY expensive... 1 CYP (Cypriot Pound) = R17, which means that the Nederburg wine we buy at CYP4,95 is about R85. Totally ridiculous!! Local wine is a bit cheaper, but bad for headaches. They also do not have ANY cider at all and I am really missing Savanna and Hunter's Dry.

We have met a nice few people and guess what...all the nice ones are South Africans...so far.

Good luck everybody. I hope 2007 brings all of us great luck and good fortune and is as much fun as 2006 was.

Love from Cyprus

Annie

P.S. The photo is Matt and I, in front of our "Christmas Tree"...that was the closest thing to a small tree we could find!! Also, we thought the lights we in a string - this is what happens when everything is in Greek and you do not understand it!!!
